Zoe has a birthday

Eric & I agreed to take a photo on the 28th of each month for Zoe's first year. It's not an original idea, we know, but flipping through Carina's first year is so much fun, we decided to knock off Matt & Maike's approach.

I'm posting two, since I couldn't decide.

Zoe thinks it over

Sometimes, I look over and find Zoe in the most hilariously adult poses. This was my favorite of the evening. I feel it says one of three things:

"I'll review those documents and get back to you. Move along now."

"I'm the long-lost member of NKOTB, posing for my new album cover."

"I just joined the gang, but haven't learned our official gang signs yet, so I'm working on generally intimidating looks."

Zoe is a Hungry Girl

Zoe is eating 7-8 times a day and is well on her way back up to her birthweight. With that in mind, here is today's Top 5 list...

Top 5 most hilarious things that Zoe tried to eat today:

5. Her Car Seat
4. Daddy's shoulder, while being burped
3. Multiple Blankets
2. Tried to "nurse" at Daddy's breast
1. Both of her hands at the same time

Zoe Comes Home

In keeping with my mission to chronicle every single thing that happens to Zoe, no matter how trite or unexciting, I captured some photos of her journey home.

Nana Marjorie purchased a "going home" outfit for Zoe months ago, and here she is ready to rock:

Meeting the Family

As things settled down over the next few days Zoe had a chance to meet some of her Bay Area relatives. The excitement started when Nana Marjorie showered her with gifts:

From there, little Zoe got to meet her Cousin Carina. Carina, in her infinite cuteness has apparently been running around for the past few days saying "Baby Lila". Apparently she figured it out somehow. We feel incredibly lucky to have my brother and his lovely wife and daughter right here in SF, affording Zoe the opportunity to have a cousin just a stone's throw away.

Cousin Carina's parents will be Zoe's Aunt and Uncle, and they took to her right away as well. Here is my brother Matt getting to know his little niece:

Next up, Zoe goes home.

Welcome Zoe Paige Fox Lerner!

Zoe Paige Fox Lerner entered the world at 2:49PM on 28 November 2009. She weights 7lbs 12oz, and she comes with a full head of dark curly hair, complements of her mama. Mama is overjoyed and exhaused and Papa is about the same.

We will be periodically (OK constantly) uploading photos to:

While we recognize that most newborn babies are wrinkly an funny looking, we will continue to insist ours is the cutest newborn ever.

Top 5 List...

OK, for all my joking around, I am incredibly excited to be a father.  One thing I can't wait for is the opportunity, some day, to embarrass the hell out of my teenage daughter. With that in mind, here is my initial thoughts on how I plan to mortify my little angel:

  1. Picking up the carpool wearing my v-neck undershirt, with chest hair in full view. (thanks to Dad for teaching me that one!)
  2. When she brings home her first boyfriend, breaking out the baby photo album and paging through for several hours, making it clear that it would be very rude for him to leave before I'm done.
  3. Farts. Lots of farts.
  4. Telling extremely corny jokes whenever she brings over friends. (thanks Dad for that one as well)
  5. Posting gawky adolescent pictures of her to facebook, and tagging her so all her friends can see.

Here's where I solicit the help of all the dads out there on the internets. How do you go about embarrassing your daughters? Feel free to contribute ideas via the Comments section.

We are pregnant, yo

Well, after nearly three years of blissful marriage we are taking on our next challenge. We are excited to announce that Lila is 20 weeks pregnant with our first child. We have codenamed the project "Baby Buko" in honor of far-and-away the best flavor of ice cream at Mitchell's.

Here's our first glimpse of Baby Buko, who incidentally is a girl.

According to the picture, she appears to have lips. With that in mind, I will be arranging for a paternity test shortly.

Sorta...

Just adding that while "Baby Buko" is not my favorite ice cream flavor, I am extremely grateful that learning the gender has stopped E referring to the baby as "Clyde". That was getting awkward.

With E's penchant for nicknames, I can only imagine the embarrassing things we'll be calling her. Look out, baby!
